HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Tradition has it that on the 4th Thursday of November... people typically get together with family and spend ALL DAY cooking for about 10-15 minutes of eating! :) This year we stayed home for Thanksgiving... which makes us sad that we didn't get to see family... but it did allow us to go participate in the Turkey Bowl! :)
We got up early, bundeled ourselves up in some toasty warm clothes...
Don played while DJ & I hung out with some friends and watched the boys play football!
We brought DJ's little football so he could PLAY too! :) He LOVES playing ball.
He throws pretty good left handed and right handed! :)
We went home to cook a very yummy meal! Turkey, stuffing, rolls, potatoes, green bean caserole... YUM! :)
We are very thankful for our family, friends, freedoms and so many other things!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!

Quiet is Never Good!

I left the pantry door open, shame on me! I heard DJ go in there. (thought it was harmless since MOST of the time he just pulls the sodas off the shelf and puts them on the floor) No harm!?

I heard DJ placing the cans on the floor as expected... but there was waaaaay too much quiet after a few minutes passed. I went to go check on the situation.
"YUM" is what DJ says to me when I walked in and saw this!
1ST GLANCE: I saw DJ, the soda cans and water bottles.
2ND GLANCE: I saw a glass jar and indian CURRY sauce everywhere! I have NO IDEA how DJ got the lid off that glass curry jar without it breaking! Moral of the story... DJ has great taste! LOL
THANK HEAVENS the laudry room is right across from the pantry! :) yeay!

The Emma Awards 2009

My life last week was CRAZY BUSY!! A BIG THANKS to Don for taking a day off work to watch DJ... so that I could nail down the final touches for our biggest event of the year in Young Women's: Young Women in Excellence!
This year... our girls chose the Emmy award/Hollywood theme... but to switch it up to the Emma awards, to emulate Emma Smith for being such an amazing woman and example. Since Young Women in Excellence is an event where we get to showcase all the girl's accomplishments from this year in the Personal Progress goals... the "Emma Awards" seem to fit perfectly. :)
We had a red carpet with each girl's name on a 'Hollywood' Star!
We had tables up front to display all the things that the girls have done this year... TALENTED GIRLS! :)
Their 'awards' to carry back with them to their seats was a Mrs Buttersworth syrup bottle spray painted gold! :)
We even decorated the piano!
The display tables were set up by values and their corresponding colors. Faith, Divine Nature, Individual Worth, Knowledge, Choice and Accountability, Good Works, Integrity and Virtue.
We had the girls draw self portraits of themselves... that we hung accross the front wall.
We even made an attempt to decorate "the yellow wall" This wall has a reputation for being difficult to decorate for anything... luckily 'gold' was one of our decorating colors this time! teehee This picture is also of our refreshment table... we had two chocolate fountains there, milk chocolate and white chocolate... with several things to dip in the chocolates! YUMMY!
My oldest Laurel, Mariah... accepting her award. Beautiful girls!
My wonderful leaders... couldn't have done it without them and their awesome ideas! THANKS GIRLS! xoxo
Our Future Young Woman! Cute Carly!

Happy 70th Birthday Mom!

Well, our mother was going to be turning 70... and we had planned a surprise party for her... then her Dr scheduled her for a surgery (follow up from the 2008 mastectomy) we didn't know how well she'd be feeling and cancelled (downsized) the party. The week before, her Dr postponed her surgery! THE PARTY WAS ON AGAIN! THANKS to Lindsay for the plane ticket, DJ and I were able to be there!
We hid out at our sister Merrily's on Friday... while Merrily and mom were at a genealogy conference. FUN TIMES! Here's DJ and his cousin Allie (Lindsay's daughter) playing the piano!
THE SURPRISE... Auntie Katrina carried DJ in and Uncle Steve carried Allie in to Grammie's house... my mom was totally surprised! We hurried, gave hugs, got back in the car to head to the YUMMIEST chinese restaurant ever! HOLY MOLY IT WAS YUMMY!!
We got our own private space in the back of the restaurant! Uncle Steve is swinging Allie in her high chair! :)
Group shot #1.
Group shot #2.
ME! Yes... I was there too! :)
Back and my parent's house... my niece Nicole was teaching Allie how to pop the plastic packing material! :)
Grammie had this DARLING rocking horse that Allie and DJ LOVED! It made sounds as if it was really trotting and neighing... CUTE!
DJ's turn...

Allie's turn!
Jeff, Katrina and Mom!
We put a memory book together of Mom's friends and family.... and a good friend, Nan Hunter, wrote a song of memories about our mother to the tune of supercalifragiloustegespealadocious... and Nan told us that we had to sing this for our mom! So, without any practicing... I think we pulled it off pretty good! It was really funny... but the message was super nice... talking about how wonderful and talented our mother is. It's true... we are greatful for those memories and good friends!
THE delicious chocolate cake!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!

After spending an awesome time all day Sunday together with my mom, dad and three sisters... it was time to head to the airport Monday morning!
Here are Allie and DJ in the car... headed to the airport! DJ is forever pointing out any LIGHT he sees! He is fascinated by them!
On our way to the airport, we stopped by our dad's new dental office... yes, he is still working full time! He works for a dental company that he LOVES... and is an "Owner Doctor". The new way of having a dental practice! CHEAPER too!
Partial family picture at my dad's work!
DJ is showing his BURNED finger here. On the plane ride out, DJ touched an above-head reading light that was missing it's protective cover! BLISTER! OUCH! He was a champ about it though... hardly fussed about it. THANK HEAVENS!
LUCKILY, there was an empty seat next to mine... so I was able to bring DJ's car seat on the plane... YIPPE! Heading home to daddy!
