Pink and Green

I've never been a girlie-girl... when ever I was given a barbie or doll growing up, I gave it back. I didn't do ballet, I played softball and volleyball. But I've had soo much fun putting Callie's room together! Here are a few pictures. Poor DJ got ripped off in the room decorating department! :)
Guest bed and picture frames.
Changing table.
Shelf, name and swirlie border.
Rocking chair, flower night lights and flowers.
Ballet bar.

Since Callie hasn't come yet...

...we took advantage of our time still pregnant and went to get ultrasound pictures taken of Callie yesterday after leaving the hospital! I have several great ultrasound pictures and a video of my pregnancy with DJ... and not of Callie, so we went to get some! Luckily I was able to get us in the same day! The sonographer was nervous since I had just left the hospital for low amniotic fluids... because you need fluids to get good ultrasound pictures!
To our relief, she kept saying... your fluids are way better than I expected them to be... which made me very happy for two reasons... ONE, Baby Callie is OK with enough fluids in my tummy still and TWO, we can get some good pictures of her in there still! :) yippee!!
Callie kept her hands by her mouth, so it was difficult to get a good picture of her face... but here is a pretty good one. Look at those cheeks! She looks like someone I know! :) This made me really excited to have her out and hold her... it all seems real now that I'm going to have another baby!
Here are her little fingers. They also look a bit chubby! :)

Here she is holding her own hand, DJ's been doing this a LOT lately when we tell him he has to hold our hand while walking... he thinks holding his own hand is enough... :)

Getting Close... with a few false alarms

It's been a while since I've updated our blog... and that was one thing that I wanted to get done before Baby Callie arrived. Good thing I got to catch up on blogging and other things this morning... since we've almost had this baby twice in the last 7 days! :)
A week ago, I was timing contractions for several hours in the night... I even got a little bit nervous and decided to print out my packing list for the hospital. (printed that list out, but still haven't pacled! LOL) My contractions were very consistent, but very consistent at 5 minutes. Real labor is 3-5 minutes. I thought I was close to having this baby, and boy would I LOVE to not be pregnant anymore!!! ...but I still doubted that is was actually TIME! I was induced with DJ, so I hadn't gone through this before. That next morning, I went to my dr appointment and the contractions were still coming, but had stopped being so consistent... darnit! :) I was 37 weeks... so full term... but still plenty of time for Baby Callie to get ready before making her entrance into the world... movin' right along!
This past Tuesday, Don, DJ & I went to my 28 week Dr appointment... we had an ultrasound to check on Baby Callie and to see how big she is getting. DJ was measuring over 10 pounds at this point, so they induced me the very next day so that I could deliver him without DJ getting bigger. LUCKILY, Callie was only measuring 7 lbs 6 oz, but the nurse gave us some bad news... my amnoiotic fluids were low and they admitted me to the hospital right then to get on an IV. My Dr is out of town this week, but I got a great Dr in the hospital. Low fluids can be a huge risk for the baby... without enough fluids, the baby can squish the umbilical cord, it can come out before the baby, cause serious complications and might have to do an emergency c-section. I spent the night at the hospital on the IV, my fluids came back up nicely by the next morning.
At that point, they gave us the option to induce me to have the baby now or to wait. Don and I went back and forth on what to do... it was a tough decision. I really dont want to be pregnant anymore, what if my fluids drop again and I don't know it? I don't want to have TWO hospital stays for one baby. She's full term and healthy, would be fine if she came out now... but my body hasn't gotten ready to push out a baby yet... and induction raises the percentage of having a C-section too. Should we wait ot have her now? We decided to wait until my body progresses on its own... and we went home!
So, I'm on 'unofficial bedrest' and have to drink LOTS of water... I've gotten several things done in the last 24 hours. Sweet Don and DJ went back and forth from home to the hospital, bringing me things that I needed (SINCE I HAVEN'T PACKED YET), cell phone, iPod, chargers, pillows, toothbrush, etc... (I still haven't packed... I will do that today!) :) Don and DJ passed the hospital on their way to dinner at Taco Bell... DJ got upset when they didn't stop to pick me up to go too. :)
After we left the hospital yesterday and drove past the hospital... DJ said, "Bye-Bye Baby Callie" as if we left her there... so dang cute... can't wait to see him with her when she's home... he has NO IDEA what's coming! :)

My Baby Shower!

Boy oh boy do I ever feel blessed! I have wonderful friends that gave me an amazing baby shower! SPOILED rotten in fact! :)
There was so much yummy food, it was amazing! After that baby shower of pink and green to match Callie's room... I started doubting if the ultrasound technitioin got the gender right on this baby in my tummy! Is she is really a girl!!??
The room is painted, all the girly quilts have been sewn, all the girl clothes I received at my shower... I'm TOAST if she's not a girl!
When I got home from the shower, I kept bringing in more and more bags of gifts from the shower, Don said... there's more!?? :) We are so greatful for all the thoughtfulness and CUTE things we got! We are so blessed! THANK YOU!
Another blessing I have been showered with is to live near and have so many talented friends that like to make blankets and quilts! Callie got some DARLING quilts!!! Check these out! I tell you... we are so BLESSED! THANK YOU GIRLS for your friendship and WONDERFUL SHOWER! You are all so talented!
