Visiting Mike after his Neck Surgery

My brother Mike has been having numbness in his hands and feet too I believe for some time. His doctors couldn't find a cause, but had him go through some physical therapy which seemed to help a little bit. A few years pass and he is now quickly finding it difficult to walk very far. Climbing stairs has become very difficult and picking up his baby was painful and not possible at times. In our recent trip to California, we chose Yosemite because Mike was one of several who wanted to climb Half Dome. When we got to Yosemite, Mike spent a lot of time laying down or sitting down. There was going to be nothing close to climbing Half Dome for Mike with his back in such pain. On their way home to Texas, his wife Allie probably received a few crazy looks from strangers as she, a petite woman pushed a stroller with a toddler and pulled a large suitcase for three by herself... while her large in stature husband hobbled along. Mike went to the doctor as soon as he could upon arriving home.... and was scheduled for an emergency double incision neck surgery that same week! Mike had contemplated seeing a chiropractor while in California.... and it was a good thing he didn't as, his neck was in very bad shape and any sudden wrong movement could have had very bad affects for his spinal cord. Mike had surgery through the front and the back of his neck....  but after a very successful surgery, he said that he could feel his fingers!!
The first time in a few years that he was able to feel his hands.

Mike, the day after surgery

Sitting up for the first time.

Mikes first walk after surgery!
I sat next to Mike for a few days making photo books on my laptop next to him while he slept and we had some good times visiting. I would go out and grab food and other treats from time to time as well. Love you Mike. Glad we could spend that time together!
