Callie's FIRST Birthday!

For Callie's 1st Birthday, the theme was "Cute as a Button." We were so lucky to have Grammie Foulk and uncle Dan there as well as a few of our friends.
Here is a picture of the party favors and 1st Year Banner that now hangs in her room. Thanks to my mom who did an amazing job on the banner! The favors were gumball necklaces for the girls and chocolate dipped wafers for the boys... (thanks Pinterest!)

Birthday banner up close...

Food... fruit skewers, pizza, chips, punch and cake.

Callie's smash cake... waaay too big, oh well, learning lesson for next time! (next time!?? we'll see about that! LOL)

Birthday Girl before eating her cake!

Here is the cake we shared with everyone... it was so fun to make... just a larger version of the smash cake. (thanks, again goes to Pinterest!)

Here's Callie after eating some of her cake... can't really tell because the frosting is white! Don said, no more white cake and no more white frosting! (remember how Don feels about white/non-chocolate cake? It shouldn't exist. teehee) :)

Here are my three Loves... Callie opening her first birthday presents. She LOVES her dolls!
Callie and Uncle Dan. Thanks for coming to see us! We love you!
The invitations for Callie's birthday... they were so much fun to make!

Our Baby Girl turned 1 today, March 27th! She is such a sweetheart and we love her so much. We made her a cake... a practice cake for her birthday party!

Our dear friend Grandma Glo also brought Callie a chocolate cake as well... as you can see, Callie definitely takes after her Daddy in the chocolate department! By the expression on her face in the first picture, "hand over the chocolate and no one gets hurt!"
We love you baby Callie! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! XOXO

Callie Walks

Just two days before Callie's birthday... and we went to visit a dear friend who DJ calls Grandma Glo. It was her birthday and we took her some cake. While spending time with Grandma Glo, Callie WALKED to her! Callie has been super scared to try walking AT ALL lately, but today she went for it!

Projects....

We have been busy doing things around the house! Don replaced the AC motor! Hopefully the upstairs AC wont freeze and will keep it cool this summer! He also hung up the bikes in the garage... so there is more room on the floor to do wood working!
Speaking of wood working, I wanted to build a clock for the playroom upstairs. I saw one at a store last summer for $150, no way was I going to pay that much for it!
So with a little help from DJ... (he ran and got all his tools and safety gear to help me) we made a clock!
Then... with Callie's first birthday coming up... I wanted to have her pictures taken... in order to do that, I needed to make some cute things! Thanks to ideas from Pinterest... and You Tube how to videos... I made a tutu, a few bows, a necklace and a onesie with a one on it... Callie's 1st year photos coming soon! :)
I've also been TRYING to try new recipes. Cooking is NOT my strong point... but little by little I'll get better. This is a completely home made cupcake. It is vanilla with strawberry frosting... again, ALL HOME MADE. No boxes or mixes. I got this recipe off my friends blog... yum! Don who never eats a cupcake unless it is CHOCOLATE, tried this... and said it's not bad. That's a small miracle! :)
