Off to San Antonio

While my parents were with visiting us for a few days, we went to Cabelas in Fort Worth, ate a lot of yummy food, swim lessons for DJ, stamped and we spent an afternoon in Dallas looking for family members in the Oak Cliff cemetary for geneology. We also drove down the street that my mom lived on when she was a little girl! After being in Dallas for a few days, we had plans to head south to San Antonio to see the sights down there and to visit my brother Mike and his wife Allison! I was so excited! My parents, Don, DJ and I piled in the car and began the 5 hour drive south! Before arriving into San Antonio, we met
Mike and Alli at a VERY YUMMY restaurant called The Grist Mill in New Braunfels, TX. This restaurant was located in a very old quiant town with many old shops, candy shops, antique shops, etc. Allison is from Idaho and loves the candy called the "Idaho Spud". This little candy shop had Idaho Spuds! (of course Allison bought one!) There was this really old airplane toy in an antique shop that was painted black and yellow, with a name on it saying: "Yellow Jacket". I HAD to put DJ in it for a picture! :) Don found this old cowboy hat... we HAD to try it on for size... of course. Darling Cowboy DJ! :)

Cabelas With Grammie & Grandpa Foulk

My dad is the exact opposite of a hunter and/or fisherman... (which is the kind of stuff that Cabelas mostly sells) ...I think my dad was seriously disinterested to go, but we took him anyway! :) ...and guess what!?? he was the only person that bought something there! haha He got a really cool leather money/credit card clip since his old one was wearing out. We like to go there to see all the big animals, the pretty waterfall, the hanging airplane, all the cool stuff they have... we like to walk through their big fish tank with HUGE cat fish and turtles... and to see if there is anything we can't live without... hehe I think my parents enjoyed it. Babies in the pool go Splash! Splash! Splash!

This is a song we sing at DJ's swim class. It's actually called a 'water adjustment class'. There are 3 kids in the class. The other 2 kids are 18 months old and cried the entire first day, while DJ loved it! I love the water and spent a lot of time swimming when I was growing up... so we decided to start DJ early in the pool. They take babies in the class as early as 6 months old, DJ is 9 months. We will go twice a week for 4 weeks. This pictures was DJ's first day at the pool! He is looking at his daddy holding the camera behind the glass where the parents who aren't getting in the pool can wait and watch. We were soooo lucky that Grammie and Grandpa Foulk were able to be there on DJ's first day of swimming class! They had just flown in from California. :)

With anything that DJ gets excited about, he "flaps his wings" up and down real fast... like he's trying to fly away. He also breathes in and out super fast, (close to hyperventilating?) He's doing it again here while getting in the pool. His "wings" are blurry cuz they are moving soo fast! ...I'm blurry because I'm about to fall over while trying to hold DJ up. :)

DJ loves splashing and chasing the toys that are floating in the pool. He's not all that interested in blowing bubbles just yet.. In this video, check out how DJ's already mastered the breast stroke!

New Tables!! ...and yes Keir, chairs too! :)

We've been eating on this tiny kitchen table that I've had for many years, through my single days with my wonderful roommies! :) It is small. It can only seat 4 people, their plates, a glass... and that's IT! The food, beverages, etc... need to be at a remote location!
Not anymore... and we are soooo glad! We also have a diningroom... a room that we didn't have in our previous house... sooo yes, another table! More space for visitors!! Come on over for dinner!!!

Familyroom Bookcases

We had this wide open space at the top of the stairs... so we put our old sofas up there with plans to use it as a family room and play room. Great idea... but there was no storage in this nice big space, so we got bookcases! A "speed bump" we encountered was that the existing cable jack was on the opposite wall of where we needed it to be... so I went up into the attic, split that cable wire, ran new cable wire down the wall where we needed it, cut a hole in the sheetrock, added a new cable jack wall plate... and waaa la! We are all set! We just need STUFF to fill up these new bookcases... mainly a NEW (BIGGER) TV! :) (...the checkbook said, one thing at a time!)

Elmo Wrestling... DING!

As you know from previous blog posts... DJ LOVES, LOVES, LOVES his Elmo toy! Well, as DJ gets bigger... so do his kicks! He lifts the Elmo toy off the ground with his feet and grasps it with his hands to lift it higher in the air. Two-footed, one-footed, two-handed and one-handed! At times it seems like a little wrestling match. Check out the Elmo Wrestling slide show to the left for the play by play: Round 1... DJ wins! (the crowd goes wild... I'm rolling on the floor laughing, WHILE switching between the good camera & my cell phone camera to capture the perfect shots so I could blog them AND quickly send a few pictures to Don who was at work) Round 2, Elmo comes back to take the win! Livingroom Sofas

We were using our two recliner chairs & DJ's swing in the livingroom to watch tv. The way it was set up, it felt like we were The Three Little Bears. Chairs for Daddy Bear, Momma Bear & Baby Bear. It was time for sofas! So we moved the recliners upstairs and the delivery men brought our new furniture! This room is wierd shaped... so we are still experimenting on how to arrange the sofa, love seat & chair! :) Suggestions welcome!
